Today is the day that I returned to Malaysia to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family. After school, my mother rang me up to tell me what important things I needed to bring home. She also told me to leave the hostel at 3:00pm sharp so that I would not have to rush for the bus that would bring me back to Malaysia. Why should I leave so early when it only takes 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive at the bus that leaves at 5:00pm? With that, I hung up the phone and when to sleep, setting my alarm clock at 3:30pm. I woke up at 3:30pm as desired. After getting changed, I walked to the nearest bus-stop and took a bus to Bedok MRT Station. Unfortunately, as it was a public holiday, the road was very jammed, therefore it took me a long time to arrive at the MRT station. When I eventually did, it was already 4:00pm. I hurried to catch a train, but unfortunately, I was just in time to watch the train doors shutting. Feeling a little angry, I just sat on a bench and waited for the next train to arrive. The next train arrived only 5 minutes later. I took walked quickly into the train and waited again for the train to arrive at my destination – City Hall MRT Station. The train stopped at every station, and I checked my watch whenever it did.
To me, the trip seemed to have lasted for hours, although it had only lasted no more than 30 minutes. From where I was, I still had to take a short taxi trip to the bus that I was taking back to Malaysia. Umfortunately, the queue at the taxi stand was very long. Feeling panic, I quickly ran to the front of the queue and asked if I could go first. However, my request was rejected by 5 people. At last, seeing how panicked I was, a kind old lady allowed me to go first. I thanked her and jumped up the taxi.
As if things weren't already bad enough, the taxi driver was a trainee and did not know how to get to my destination. Feeling extremely furious, I stomped out of the taxi. However, when the taxi had left, I realised that I had accidentally left my laptop inside it! Just at that time, my mother called to check on me. I told her hestitantly about how I had lost my laptop. Expecting her to yell at me, I was shocked when she asked me to forget about the laptop. Instead, she pleaded me to hurry so that I could still catch the bus to return home. I hung up the phone, and hurriedly took another taxi to my destination.
When I eventually arrived there, I was already 20 minutes late. Fortunately, the bus had waited for me...
